About Candlestick Beach

Candlestick Beach is an established residential neighborhood located along the Arkansas River and has been home to hundreds of families for more than 50 years. Throughout that time, residents have maintained a strong connection to the river and have taken care of the adjacent beach as a valued community resource - using it for community events and recreation. 

The neighborhood now faces a significant threat from a proposed sand mining operation currently in the permitting phase. This project could have lasting impacts on the riverbank, the beach, and the surrounding community.
