Candlestick Beach is a long-established neighborhood located along the banks of the Arkansas River. For more than 50 years, it has been home to hundreds of families who have enjoyed, cared for, and responsibly used the river beach as a shared natural space within the Candlestick Beach neighborhood.

Today, this beach and the community around it are at risk due to a proposed sand mining operation known as Candlestick Sand LLC, which is currently in the permitting phase. This operation could permanently alter the riverbank, the beach, and the overall quality of life for the families who live here. Residents are coming together to protect Candlestick Beach and ensure that decisions regarding the future of the area consider the people and environment that depend on it.
